Real Men Write is a program I created based on my time working with individuals inside the wall of Folsom State prison, a maximum State Prison in Northern California.

It was also during this Toastmaster program at Folsom Prison in which I wrote and published my first poetry book called A Sketch.

Real Men Write, is built on the opus of creating a community where men can show up fully and wholly, where societies norms are released at the point of entry. I’ve been fortunate; to write with not only incarcerated individuals, but also collegiate and professional athletes, executives and Sr. level officials to elementary school kids.

Real Men Write, is not exclusively for men only, but its mission is to set forth to help those that have been trapped by many of society’s stigmas and traditions of hyper masculinity, and typecasting. 

As a man, who has endured and overcome his own traumas around masculinity and the English language, Real Men Write, has been an emotional and spiritual awakening for which everyday is a journey.
